Once upon a time (all the classic stories begin this way)
a group of friends and I decided to throw a new years eve party. We chose to have it at the old Whistle Stop Tavern on route 50. It took a while to clean it up, but we got it done. A great time was had by all and most of us lived happily ever after.
Then I decided to open it up for business. Thus Frank’s Sundown was born back in 1990.
The old Sundown served the community of Beckemeyer for six years in a laid back, New Orleans styled way. We had a lot of fun, but it all tragically ended when the old wiring finally gave in and the old Sundown burned. Only Ponce survived. (He’s the guy on the right. He got better once we glued his head back on.)
A year later, we purchased the old Ebbie’s Corner in Beckemeyer, which is our current location. We continue to operate as a friendly home town tavern.
Frank’s Sundown has recently adopted a new moniker, “Home of the Corner Kitchen”. After some extensive remodeling, we added our Corner Kitchen. The kitchen is in full swing, serving lunch and dinner. Dine in or carry out. Reaction from the community has been great. We’re seeing quite a few new faces and lots of repeat customers. It seems our customers are happy with what we’re doing.
Frank’s Sundown & Corner Kitchen will continue to evolve to meet the needs of our customers. We have a few more plans in the works. We’ll let you know about them as they’re implemented.
We thank you for taking the time to view our website, and we thank you for your business.
